NBA Headlines following the 2015-2016 regular season:
The 70th season of the NBA is over, and what a memorable one it was. From Kobe’s farewell tour, to the Warriors chasing history, having the best regular season record, this was a fabulous season.
16 teams are in the pursuit for the Larry O’Brien trophy, but to me it’s a two team race for the ring.
A lot of breaking news happened after we all said goodbye to Kobe. Kobe reshaped what it means to be a ‘legend’, but the show must go on.
Kobe scored 60 points to end his career.
Sacramento Kings fired head coach George Karl. What happened in Sacramento? That was a bad match for him. He didn’t get along with DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo.
Washington Wizards to fire head coach Randy Wittman.
Minnesota Timberwolves relieved interim coach Sam Mitchell from his coaching duties.
Stephen Curry finished the season, making 402 three pointers.
The third through six seeds in the East all have the same record 48-34. Miami wins the four-way tie and is the third seed, followed by the Hawks, Celtics, and Hornets. The Heat will host the Hornets in the first round of the playoffs.
The Rockets sneak to get the eight seed, and will face the Warriors in the playoffs. I’m happy to see Michael Beasley in the playoffs, but I will be sad to see him leave in the fifth game of that series.
NBA owners are expected to approve putting ads on jerseys for the 2017-18 season.
Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl Anthony-Towns ( #1 pick in the 2015 draft) won rookie of the month in the Western conference for five consecutive months from October- March. The results for April has yet to be released.
Draymond Green became the first player in NBA history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 100 steals, and 100 blocks in a single season.
Russell Westbrook recorded 18 triple-doubles this season.
Warriors are the first team in NBA history not to lose to the same team twice in a season.
